On the shore of Montana's Flathead Lake, where pristine waters greet rugged mountains, Landry Design Group has created an award-winning luxurious estate.

The design objective was to create a relaxed home that encourages outdoor living and casual gatherings, and this elegant yest rustic getaway, situated on a rocky outcrop over Flathead Lake, offers splendid lakefront views framed by rugged mountains.

Landry Design Group worked out a solution to overcome the challenges of a long, narrow lot by maximizing views for all interior and exterior spaces without interfering with the natural terrain. The result is well-organized, multi-structure estate. A footbridge connecting the main residence and guest house creates a portal to the waterfront activities. Multiple gabled masses redistribute the home’s volume, and a generous use of local stone anchors structures to their natural environment.

Most spaces in the open floor plan connect to useable exterior spaces and a large, double-height porch (ideal for entertaining) becomes screened at the touch of a button. Designated outdoor sports areas and a multi-purpose barn with vegetable garden take advantage of flat areas to provide engaging experiences unrelated to waterfront activities. A cherry orchard, an unexpected bucolic discovery for guests, screens an archery range, further illustrating how this extraordinary property offers unlimited opportunities to enjoy the rustic charm of Big Sky Country.

Landry Design Group was recognized for five projects throughout the U.S. by the Pacific Coast Builder's Conference at its award ceremony on June 19, 2024, in Anaheim, California. The Gold Nugget Awards is the oldest and most respected design awards competition in the nation, with honors presented annually to world-class innovators in design, planning and development. One Landry Design home, in Monterey, Calif., received a Grand Award, and an additional four, including the Montana Lake House, were honored with Merit Awards.

The five award-winning homes by Landry Design Group highlighted the firm's versatility in working with various properties and executing diverse architectural styles. With sites in coastal California, rural Montana and tropical South Florida, the winning designs also addressed challenges unique to dramatically different environments. Still, all the homes share an elegant sense of drama that makes them particularly memorable, both in terms of aesthetics and spatial experiences. This year’s recognition of Landry Design continues a remarkable series of achievements for the design firm, which has now garnered 90 coveted Gold Nugget Awards.
