Nick Speak presents new play "The Record" at Whitefish Theatre Co.

nick spear the record whitefish theatre companyThe Whitefish Theatre Company presents a show in which local playwright and musician Nick Spear releases his new play titled “The Record”.
Filled with original music throughout the show, “The Record” has only one performance on September 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

“The Record” follows a songwriter, out to find his true voice. Yet, just as this singer decides to make a record, the death of records, from vinyl to CDs, becomes the new mainstream.

Now what? Through song and story, "The Record" is a touching, at times irreverent, laugh-out-loud quest for the self.

“’The Record’ is really a play about storytelling and I just happen to tell part of my story through song,” says Nick Spear. “I am very excited to take this first step in the developmental process of this play and I am really looking forward to engaging with an audience to hear their response about how this story comes across on stage.”
New works workshops offer opportunities for audience members to serve as active sounding boards as writers fine-tune original plays. Audience members who attend “The Record” will be invited to a talk-back after the show to give feedback and engage in dialogue with Nick and Director Jere Hodgin.

Viewers are reminded that as a new work, there will be minimal staging, lighting, and props.

Tickets are $10 with general seating. Tickets are sold only at the door on the evening of the show.  The Box Office opens at 6:30 p.m. and is located at 1 Central Ave., Whitefish.  For more information, call 862-5371.
