River's Edge Trail in Great Falls features local art

River’s Edge Trail in Great Falls isn’t just a scenic walk along the Missouri River — it’s an outdoor art gallery full of surprises.

Great Falls artist Alex Smithson transforms old tools and scrap metal into life-sized sculptures. There are more than 15 sculptures on view at Great Falls' River's Edge Trail. His newest masterpiece, a moose made entirely from reclaimed parts, joins his creations along the trail, from soaring birds to playful fish, and even an octopus.
