Vocal group Dolce Canto performs spring concert
Performances in Victor and Missoula this weekend
Vocal group Dolce Canto presents two concerts this weekend that celebrate the wonder of nature.
The concerts, titled "The Peace of Wild Things," are this weekend, May 13-14, in Victor, Montana, and Missoula, under the direction of David Edmonds.
Missoula-based Dolce Canto performs diverse choral music with compelling artistry and sensitivity. The members are professional musicians, music teachers, members of the local business community, and students who share an enthusiasm for wide-ranging choral repertoire. Founded in 2001, Dolce Canto has become a treasured asset of the Western Montana cultural community.
Dolce Canto has performed throughout western Montana, including with Two Valleys Stage, Madison River Music Festival, Mineral County Performing Arts Series, Sanders County Performing Arts Series, St. Timothy’s Summer Music Festival, Sunburst Arts Festival, and Mission Valley Live. They have hosted choral workshops with renowned conductors Anton Armstrong, Brady Allred, Charles Bruffy, and Giselle Wyers, and were showcased at the Northwestern Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) in 2010.
Dolce received the prestigious Dale Warland Singers Commission Award in 2014, which resulted in the commission of “The Stars Still Shine” by composer John Muehleisen and lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri that premiered during Dolce Canto’s 2016 tour to South Korea.
Dolce Canto has released two CDs, A Capella Around the World and the holiday album A Joyful Season, both of which are available here. They also contributed to the CD Into the Light, a John Ellis Endowment project dedicated to easing the transition for those near the end of life.
