New music festival debuts in Whitefish

Under the Big Sky adds to the Whitefish summer

A new music festival is unfolding this year in Whitefish, Montana.

This July, Under The Big Sky Music and Arts Festival will debut on a 350 acre ranch, just outside Whitefish. Under The Big Sky will present musical stars from across the spectrum of Americana, folk and alt-country in one of America’s most unspoiled and pristine regions of natural wilderness.

Under The Big Sky celebrates the tradition of gathering friends and family together under open skies to listen to music. The festival will explore the breadth and legacy of Americana, taking in both traditional and contemporary takes on our country’s rich musical traditions, across two stages in naturally formed amphitheaters on the ranch.

Under The Big Sky is led by Nathaniel Rateliff’s rugged modern soul and the powerful, melancholic rock of Band of Horses. Country music forms the backbone of Under The Big Sky with the inimitable American icon Dwight Yoakam who will deliver his singular interpretation of Honky-tonk, alongside indie-star Jenny Lewis’ presentation of her new album On The Line and the in your face country stylings of musical outlaw Cody Jinks.

Texan rockers Jamestown Revival will perform alongside Grammy and Oscar winning Yellowstone star and Americana traditionalist Ryan Bingham. Emerging stars also feature at Under The Big Sky with Brooklyn indie four-piece Lucius, country rocker Nikki Lane and Americana experimentalist Amanda Shires performing alongside outlaw country acts Whitey Morgan and Shooter Jennings.
