Big Sky State Games plans Fit Kids event

BIG SKY FIT KIDS DAY

The Big Sky State Games is taking registrations for the 13th Annual Big Sky Fit Kids Day April 24 - May 5 throughout Montana.  Last year over 22,000 school age youth participated.   This celebration of youth fitness encourages participating schools to plan a 30-minute segment of consecutive aerobic activity with 100 percent of students participating on one day. Schools are encouraged to register for the FREE event by Friday, April 21 at www.bigskyfitkids.org under Fit Kids Day.

Participating schools with 100 percent participation will be entered in a drawing for one of three $500 awards to be used for health or physical education equipment or programs.

"The purpose of Fit Kids Day is to share the benefits of physical activity with children and demonstrate that it is easy and fun to be physically active every day," said Big Sky State Games Executive Director, Karen Sanford Gall.   "Throughout the 13 year history of the program, schools have been very creative when planning their activity and strive to make it fun for the children," she added.  Some schools hold track & field day, offer dancing, stage elaborate obstacle courses and others bring in aerobic-type instructors.

Fit Kids Day is part of the 2017 Big Sky Fit Kids (BSFK) program of the Big Sky State Games.  BSFK encourages children, parents, teachers and leaders of youth organizations to make physical activity and healthy nutrition part of every child's day.
