The Missoula Cultural Council and Zootown Arts Community Center offer the Creative Gig Service for upcoming Calls to Artists and Fundraisers. With the purpose of connecting artists to job opportunities, and businesses to the best services available, the Creative Gig Service (CGS) breathes new life into Missoula's self-employment scene. While similar in format to Craigslist, the CGS focuses on all that is creative, including: photography, exhibition opportunities, graphic design, writing and editing, web design, music gigs, general art gigs, artist to artist help, education and teaching opportunities, calls to artists, residencies, and items and services wanted. The Montana Museum of Art & Culture presents 60 Artists, 60 Artworks, 60 Years: Celebrating the Archie Bray Foundation, from now through September 10, in the Meloy & Paxson Galleries. MMAC pays tribute to the 60th anniversary celebration of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts. The charming Dudes/Dudettes around town and are scheduled to show up soon in front of the Dana Gallery and near the Fairgrounds during Fair week. They were "born in" Sarasota, Florida, and often are holding say things like "Be Nice", "Smile", "Begin Anywhere", "Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Taken", and even "Go Griz"! They are also designed to raise money for local charities. The beneficiary right now is the Watson's Childrens Shelter, as 100% of the commissionable fee on the pieces is donated directly to them. The Missoula Symphony Orchestra returns to Caras Park on Sunday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m. for its annual "Symphony in the Park" concert. Music Director Darko Butorac will lead the orchestra through a movie score themed program. Food and beverage may be purchased from on-site vendors and lawn chairs are encouraged. The second annual C4S bike ride - Cycle for the Symphony - will kick off Saturday, August 20. This fully supported and spectacularly scenic 119-mile ride will follow the established Flint Creek Ramble bike route, and begins and ends in Philipsburg. Riders also have shorter options of 25, 57, 85 miles. Ride includes stops for breakfast, lunch and energy, plus a finish line BBQ. Registration fee is $100 plus $50 minimum in donations raised. River City Roots Festival is August 27-28 in the streets of Downtown Missoula. Volunteers are needed for a variety of areas, including the Green Team, the Art Show, the Children's Fun Festival, Wristband Sales, Beer & Wine Service, and more. The Friendship Force of Missola-Western Montana has announced the destination of the club's next cultural exchange. The club is accepting applications for a 2 week home stay

A Carousel for Missoula announces its second annual raffle, designed to raise funds to keep the Carousel and Dragon Hollow safe, clean and operating year round.

Missoula's International Choral Festival presents "Dinner in the Chef's Kitchen", with favorite local chef Ray Risho. The City of Moscow, Idaho is requesting applications from professional artists who can demonstrate qualifications for producing site-specific outdoor public art. Eligibility is open to artists, architects and design teams in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming. Three semi-finalists will be reimbursed for site visits and paid $500 each to prepare detailed site-specific proposals for the design, fabrication and installation of a permanent outdoor sculpture for a city park in September 2012. The Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery in Red Lodge presents Dave Vogel Exhibit through August. On August 10: Beartooth Evening Adventures Presents Wyoming artist and furniture maker Tom McCoy. He will talk about his Yellowstone Postcard Series of paintings and the lost art of diorama making. August 12-13: Watercolor Painting with Elliott Eaton. Sanders County Arts Council is accepting applications for the Summer Show of "Art on the Walls" of Clark Fork Valley Hospital which runs July 1 through September 29. Art for this juried show must be the original work of a Sanders County artist. It can be any medium so long as it can be hung on the wall. Applications are due June 14. Alpine Artisans, Inc in the Seeley-Swan is pleased to announce Open Studios on First Saturdays this summer.
