Flathead Lake is element of design in Bigfork home
January 10, 2009

Water becomes a design element at this home, where Flathead Lake laps at the shoreline just out the front door.
This 4,300-square-foot home is near the entrance to Bigfork Bay, facing west, across the broad expanse of Flathead Lake. Architect Keith Beck, of Unique Home Design in Bigfork, situated so that the Montana sunsets stream through the tall windows, and so that summertime guests can enjoy the lake lifestyle.
With the large expanse of glass, the home seems to jut out into the water. The home is built for classic Montana vacation, with two larger master suites and a guest suite, This layout allows for another family of guests to stay comfortably, while everyone enjoys privacy — and of course great access to Flathead Lake. (Which is where you should be spending your time, anyway.)
A second story deck provides great views and is perfect for enjoying a social atmosphere.
The general contractor, Calaway Construction, along with interior designer Susan Klein, gave the home an open feel, taking advantage of the natural surroundings. Log work takes on new look, as gnarled railings add character. Some very unique log accents make the home feel as though “you’re in a forest,” Tim Calaway says. “These are not your normal logs.”
The home is close to all that northwest Montana offers, and just a short boat ride away, the charming village of Bigfork awaits. Shopping, nightlife and excellent dining (not to mention gorgeous Flathead Lake) make Bigfork a smart choice for people looking to retire or own a second home.
Trails West Eagle Bend Realty in Bigfork has this home listed for sale, and interested parties should contact Jim Kuhlman at www.trailswesteaglebend.com.
