Bozeman Hot Springs offers soothing respite January 12, 2009

By Mike England
It’s that time of year again. As if the strain of making a living and the rigors of unrealistic New Year’s resolutions weren’t enough, Mother Nature decides to add bone-chilling temperatures and weekly whiteouts to your growing list of encumbrances. You need a break, and soon, before the accumulated tension binds you up tighter than a sumo wrestler in a Spandex cycling shirt. Here’s what to do: Haul your taut torso to Bozeman Hot Springs for a long, relaxing soak. Fully refurbished in the spring of 2001, this 100-year-old natural hot springs is now one of the cleanest, hottest, and most inviting resorts in Montana, with nine different pools and temperatures up to a toasty 104 degrees Fahrenheit. There’s also a full-service spa for massages and other body treatments. Throw in a large fitness center, daycare facilities, and both wet and dry saunas, and you’ve got all the tools necessary to extricate your body and mind from the restraints of the daily grind. You can soak indoor or out, in pools of various sizes, and alternate your warm soaks with dips in the 54 degree Fahrenheit cold plunge for an exhilarating fire-and-ice sensation. The saunas are the best around—the wet sauna, called the Amazon Rain Forest, has “rain” dropping from the ceiling, fiber-optic lighting and waterproof speakers that deliver the serene sounds of the rainforest. It’s there, as you recline in the warm, tropical paradise of your imagination, that you’ll forget about the snow and the stress, and let all your cares melt away. Bozeman Hot Springs is eight miles west of downtown Bozeman, at the intersection of Highway 191 and Huffine Lane. Call (406) 586-6492 for information and resort prices. |
