|  Montana researchers uncover clues to bee colony collapses
 University of Montana biology Research Professor Jerry Bromenshenk said his research group has learned that a honeybee virus previously unknown to North America, as well as a fungal pathogen, were found in all their samples collected at hives afflicted by Colony Collapse Disorder from 2006 to 2009. Those two pathogens were not found in the control groups – colonies with no history of CCD in Montana and Australia. |

|  University of Montana enrollment tops 15,000
 For the first time in its history, the enrollment at The University of Montana has topped 15,000. According to the Registrar’s Office, UM enrollment for autumn semester is 15,642, which is 721 more than the all-time record set a year ago. The enrollment figure includes students at the central mountain campus and the UM College of Technology. |

|  BLACK BEAR, GRIZZLY BEAR ACTIVITY CONTINUES IN NW MONTANA
 A black bear that was frequenting the Buffalo Hill Golf Course area, Lawrence Park, Conrad complex, and River Road area was captured. Another black bear was treed and captured near Hodgson Road. Both bears were released in remote locations on Friday. |

|  Spook Tours: Downtown Butte Halloween
 With the season of ghosts, ghouls and haunted buildings upon us, Mainstreet Uptown Butte will once again offer guided bus tours that provide history and ghost stories. For the past eight years, these tours have delighted amateur ghost hunters. The tour varies year to year to include a mix of hearing tales of the living dead among us while on board the bus, to actually exploring old mines and buildings in hopes of paranormal encounters. |
